Five Mother's Day Gift Ideas

In addition to having a card, here are a few nice ideas so you don’t have to stress about it.

1.  Spa or Massage Gift Card: A gift certificate to a local spa or massage studio — think a 60-minute Swedish massage or a facial. It's personal, indulgent, and gives her something she'd rarely book for herself. Many spas offer Mother's Day packages.  If you want a local skin care specialist, try Skin By Matthew in West Medford.

2. "Her Perfect Day" Experience Box: Curate a basket (you can get a basket at Target) around her version of a perfect lazy day: a bestselling novel or book (my wife loved this one), a premium candle, a quality tea or coffee, and a cozy pair of socks. Personalized and heartfelt. 

3. Indoor Plant + Stylish Pot: A beautiful, low-maintenance plant (like a Monstera, Pothos, or Peace Lily) paired with a chic ceramic pot makes a lasting, living gift. Many local nurseries offer gorgeous combos under $100.  Mahoney’s is a favorite nursery of mine and has a bunch of locations.

4. Dinner Out — Just the Two of You: Reserve a table at a restaurant she's been wanting to try — somewhere a step above the usual. The key is you handle all the planning: the reservation, the babysitter, everything. She shows up and just enjoys herself. The effort is half the gift. Pairing this with a nice card and some flowers makes two special days.  Two restaurants that I really enjoy and you won’t break the bank are Row 34 (seafood based but plenty of really good options), and Earl’s (slightly stepped up American casual spot).

5. Luxury Skincare or Bath Set: Put together a curated collection of premium self-care products — a quality face mask, a bath soak, and a nice lip balm. Brands like Elemis, Nécessaire, or First Aid Beauty hit the sweet spot between luxurious and practical. A bottle of her favorite wine never hurts.
